2. Somebody breaks the law A crime is committed and reported back to the police. This is called a statement.. Police investigate into the person being accused for the crime and take them to the police station if they seem guilty. This is called an arrest.. This person can then ask her from a solicitor when they are at the station. This is someone who knows about law..

4. Remand The suspect that has been charged will appear at the magistrates court and the judge will read the charge sheet, explaining what the suspect has been accused of. The solicitor may ask for the suspect to be put on bail. The magistrates will then decide whether of not to remand into custody or bail. Remand in bail. The suspect will be charged with the crime but can go freely until the are called back to court. Remand in custody. The suspect that has been charged and has to stay locked up until the court case comes back around.
5. Get ready for court The suspect and their solicitor will write down exactly what he/she said happened. Police help the witnesses to write down what the saw happened.
