1. ‘The Girl with no Hands’<br />Adaptation of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm<br />By Aurelija Armoskaite<br />Summer time. Deep and mysterious forest. <br />FADE IN:<br />EXT. FOREST. FOOTPATH THROUGH THE WOODS. DAYTIME. <br />POOR WOMAN(30s), wearing a long dress, and hat, walking very slowly through the woods, collecting sticks. The day is nice, sunny; The lighting dropping down through the trees creates good contrast and the character looks mysterious and alone. She walks from a far point from the back of the shot, towards the camera; stops few times to pick up some sticks and carries on limping towards the viewer.<br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. FOOTPATH THROUGH THE WOODS. DAYTIME.<br />The POOR WOMAN is shot from behind, as she moves away from the camera. She walks slowly, and makes a turn towards a tree/bush. <br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. FOOTPATH THROUGH THE WOODS. DAYTIME.<br />The Woman limbs past the camera and turns.<br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. FOOTPATH THROUGH THE WOODS. DAYTIME.<br />Walks straight past the camera.<br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. FOOTPATH THROUGH THE WOODS. DAYTIME.<br />Walks away from camera even deeper in to the woods.<br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. FOOTPATH THROUGH THE WOODS. DAYTIME.<br />The Woman walks towards the camera and stops by a large tree to grab some more wood and bends down. <br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. FOOTPATH BY A LARGE TREE. DAYTIME.<br />As the Woman stands up the devil appears and frightened, she drops all the wood out of her hands and falls back onto her knees. The devil starts laughing and hitting her with his cane, and the woman starts crying and praying for mercy.<br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. BY A LARGE TREE. DAYTIME.<br />The devil jumps around the woman, hitting and kicking her on her back.<br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. BY A LARGE TREE. DAYTIME.<br />The devil tells the woman to stand up, so she picks up some wood and stands up.<br />CUT TO:<br />TITLE CARD: ’Useless woman! Why do you plague yourself with collecting wood?’ <br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. BY A LARGE TREE. DAYTIME.<br />The devil knocks the wood out of her arms.<br />CUT TO:<br />TITLE CARD: ‘I need to make fire. My children are hungry and cold.’ <br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. BY A LARGE TREE. DAYTIME.<br />The devil then suggests her a deal and points toards her home.<br />CUT TO:<br />TITLE CARD:’ I can make you rich! If you promise me your daughter’. <br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. BY A LARGE TREE. DAYTIME.<br />The woman does not reply, but stands frightened and in despair.<br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. BY A LARGE TREE. DAYTIME.<br />Woman stands in front of the devil as he grabs her hand violently and forces to agree to the deal, and in a second disappears just as suddenly as he appeared. <br />CUT TO:<br />EXT. FOREST. BY A LARGE TREE. DAYTIME.<br />The woman stands alone and starts weeping into her arms. She slowly walks out of the shot behind a tree. <br />FADE OUT TO BLACK<br />
