2. What is Humanities? It comes from the Latin word humanus which means “to be human”. To be human means to show qualities like rationality, kindness or tenderness. It is the branch of knowledge concerned with human thought, feelings and relations.
3. Why is Humanities important? It constitute one of the oldest and most important means of expression developed by man. It is a universal language charge with feelings and significance.
4. What are the concerns of Humanities? It concerns itself with the communication of certain ideas and feelings by means of a medium. This medium is fashioned into a symbolic language which appeals to our mind, arouses our emotion, kindles our imagination and enchants our senses (Machlis, 1963).
6. What do all forms have in common? All forms of art are concerned with emotions, our feelings about things. People experience excitement, pleasure, anger, fear which is part of human nature. People appreciate beauty if it is connected to him emotionally.
7. What is an Artist? It is a person who exhibits exceptional skill in design, more sensitive and creative than an average person. He has the ability to interpreting ideas into artistic forms through his medium. There are two types of artists – the creators and the performers.
