The District Education Office (DEO), Palpa, has raised money illegally from the new teachers who were recruited recently after passing the Teachers´ Service Commission exams in the district. The DEO collected Rs. 2,000 each from the secondary level teachers, Rs. 1,500 from lower secondary level teachers and Rs. 1,000 from primary level teachers.

1. DEO illegally raises money from newly recruited teachers
The District Education Office (DEO), Palpa, has raised money illegally from the new teachers
who were recruited recently after passing the Teachers´ Service Commission exams in the
district.
The DEO collected Rs. 2,000 each from the secondary level teachers, Rs. 1,500 from lower
secondary level teachers and Rs. 1,000 from primary level teachers.
The DEO accepted that the Office has raised the money from a total of 328 teachers including 48
secondary level teachers, 73 lower secondary level teachers and 200 primary level teachers in the
name of District Education Committee as decided by the DEO meeting held on May 16, 2012,
said Resham Neupane, a school supervisor at the DEO.
Some DEOs including of Palpa have raised money from the new teachers though the Department
of Education directed not to raise money against the Education Act.
