Introductions.IMPORTANT- Acknowledge/ confirm their areas of interest per form. Request to introduce our company for few minutes before we talk about issues?
So, what are we hearing from our clients? They want to expand into new markets; but markets are changing everyday. Each advance in technology disrupts old ways of doing business, and operators are constantly playing catch-up.Re new competition- MVNOs are the perfect example of how new providers can just come in, leverage operator assets, and make money. Another example- Sure, subscribers get their phone and data plan provisioned with operators, but then they go right to the online app store and spend more on buying functional apps. Operators SHOULD be getting a share of that money; if only they knew how to deliver what their customer wants! Aricent has helped several operators get closer to their customers by enhancing customer-centricity of their infrastructure- from the network and up to the edge, enabling the operator be more customer responsive. And even if operators can do this, they must work with third parties in partnership.New business models- New vendors are continually trying to leverage operator assets- it makes sense in many markets to work with these vendors. Vendors could be franchise partners, application development partners, service enablers, the list goes on. The business models required to work with these players is significantly different from the traditional way of doing business. Also, operators MUST LEARN from players on how to develop apps and services that make sense to the subscribers.New Ways of Attracting and Retaining customers- Why is it possible for Facebook, Google, and Twitter to attract millions of users in a matter of days, when they first launched and now, whenever they offer a new service? Why can’t an operator boast of doing something like that? There are several factors, the crucial being getting to know the customer, and having an infrastructure/ IT environment that is AGILE. Another industry that is good at customer centricity is retail- They are constantly figuring out ways to stay in touch with their customers, and in turn, give their customers reasons to stay loyal. What can operators learn ? Sure, the services are different, but they can learn more about attracting and retaining customers from other industries and working with third parties who seem to get it. (Can talk about cloud here, as an enabler)We have helped telcos evolve into new business models and work with partners.SO, WHAT ARE YOU SEEING?
In our work with so many telcos worldwide what we’re finding is that there is a fundamental shift. Telcos are constantly having to re-invent themselves, gone are the days where you could invest heavily into infrastructure and expect to monetize AFTER. Where is the money today and in the future? In apps, in new services such as M2M. No one party owns the customer, but operators are in a great position to get in on the game- after all, even the best M2M service needs assured connectivity! Operators have to work with any and all parties that are wooing the same susbscriber-base, in order to monetize their pipes. For pipes to be rich and smart, operators have to rethink anew from the network and up. (Aricent can help. Mention some examples of how we helped telcos work with vendors, M2M,…). – SO WHAT ARE YOU SEEING?
