Dear Colleagues,
The AoC London Regional Committee meets five times a year. Its fourth meeting took place
last week on 18th April here at Stedham Place. At each meeting regular reports are taken on
the work of AoC National Board, the Governors’ Council, the LEP Skills and Employment
Working Group together with a full report on the work and priorities of the London region.
We were also pleased to welcome Jill Lowery (Skills Funding Agency) and Alan Parnum
(Education Funding Agency) to input on latest funding policy implementation.
The Regional Committee Principals are also due to meet with the Deputy Mayor Munira Mirza
and GLA colleagues on Thursday 2nd May – one of a series of meetings scheduled through out
the year with the Mayor’s office.

Skills Show 2013 Showcase applications deadline

Skills Show 2013 Regional Briefing sessions
Skills Show 2013 London Region Briefing session is on 14 May at 1:30-3:30pm at Friends House,
173 Euston Road, London, NW1 2BJ. You will be able to find out more about exciting plans for
The Skills Show in 2013 and the package of funding and support available to local partnerships
in 2013 and 2014. This special event will bring together key representatives from further
education, employer groups, local authorities and local partner/provider networks.

FE Pioneers programme
Unltd- Foundation of social Entrepreneurs has officially launched the FE Pioneers programme.
It is now opened for applications and the website is live www.unltd.org.uk/fepioneers. The
Applications submition deadline is on May 8
th

Leyton Sixth Form College wins regional sports award
Two students from Leyton College have also won awards - Denis Leramo was awarded
Student of the Year for the London region for Sporting Performance and Maahir Subhani was
awarded Student of the Year for the London region for
Leadership and Volunteering.
Amy Rogers, PE and Sports Coordinator at the College, said:
'We have viewed our involvement with BCS as an integral
factor contributing to our department's mission to establish a
strong whole College sporting ethos. We are therefore
extremely proud that the hard work of our students and staff
has been recognised through these awards.'

The College has been involved in a number of British Colleges Sport leagues, cups and
initiatives this year. The College promotes participation in a vast number of sports to promote
learning and encourage students to sustain healthy lifestyles

the simultaneous challenges of two new funding systems, the localisation of several budgets,
further education loans and the relentless grind of below-inflation rate increases. Opportunities
abound for those able to take them but success in activities like academy sponsorship, higher
education or apprenticeships requires careful risk management and advanced planning. The
Finance Directors' Conference is a part of this preparation and is a unique opportunity to test

AoC Cloud Technology Conference, 11 June, Inmarsat Conference Centre – London
This is key learning event for Senior Management Teams in the further education sector and is
a unique opportunity to learn about cloud technology. This conference is a unique opportunity
to learn from others within the sector, this event can help to consider cloud computing from a
strategic perspective as well as provide detail on the key drivers and issues faced by the
projects.

AoC Create’s renowned Certificate in Leadership for Reputation course
AoC Create’s renowned Certificate in Leadership for Reputation course is back. This three day
reputation management course will take place in London on 19, 20 June and 3 July. It is led by
the current President Elect for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Sue Wolstenholme,
alongside Ben Verinder and Paul Noble. The CIPR accredited course consists of two days of
reputation management training with a follow up day devoted to media training.

Adult Enterprise Summer Conference, 20 June 2013, Morley College
In 2011/12 the AOC/SFA funded an innovative curriculum project that produced not only a
new qualification framework for entrepreneurs but also a comprehensive range of blended
learning curriculum materials to support implementation. At the end of project funding 34
Colleges and Local Authority institutions got together to self-fund and share this blended
learning curriculum to provide an innovative entrepreneurship curriculum for adult learners
This conference is open to the sector to encourage you to find out whether you want to join
Adult Enterprise: innovative curriculum project in 2013/14 when will be shared a Level 1,
Level 2 and level 3 Enterprise curriculum that can be streamed to your Moodle VLE with
unlimited use for a variety of ages and will halve your teaching costs. The conference keynotes
and workshops will provide insight into the experience of using a shared blended learning
from a range of perspectives: Minister, students, manager, teacher, funder, ILT helpdesk
service, and awarding body perspective.
