TIA 2012 Presentation
100G is here. We are at the cusp of a step upgrade in network fiber bandwidth from hundreds of gigabits to several terabits, an order of magnitude increase in capacity. So far, the 100G discussion has primarily been focused on optics and coherent detection i.e. the fundamental building blocks of 100G. This is akin to figuring out the “how to” of internal combustion – what must be determined now is the “engine block” that wraps around the technology to enable rapid and successful adoption.
We explore the mechanisms that can deliver 100G to your networks efficiently. Why? Because to successfully bring down the total cost of ownership any solution must address not just maximizing fiber investment but also lowering CAPEX and OPEX. We look at various mechanisms with a perspective towards 100G that affect efficiency of space, power and network utilization.
