Unit 1,2,3 and 4
Rule:
We use the present simple for things which happen regularly
 or which are always true.

With I, you, we and they we use the base form of the verb.
 With he, she and it we add –s

   Vorm:
    ◦ Hele werkwoord
    ◦ Hele werkwoord + S bij he/she/it

 Wanneer gebruik je het? Signaalwoorden
    ◦ Altijd                   Always, every...
    ◦ Nooit                    Never
    ◦ Regelmatig               Usually
   Negative and questions:
    ◦ He/she/it --> does of doesn‟t
    ◦ „rest‟ --> do of don‟t
       (I, you, we, you, they)

Vorm:
Do / don‟t / does / doesn‟t + hele werkwoord

           He doesn‟t go to school today
             We don‟t read any books
                 What do you think?
                 What does he think?

   Short answers
    ◦ Do you know how? -> Yes, I do
    ◦ Does she go? -> Yes, she does.
        Remember this for he/she/it:
1. Verb ending in -s sound
     ◦     s --> he misses
     ◦     sh --> she washes
     ◦     ch --> he reaches
     ◦     x --> it mixes
2.       Remember: consonant + y --> the
         ending is ies
     ◦     He tries
     ◦     He studies
3.       Sometimes –es
     ◦     Go --> goes
     ◦     Do --> does
Rule:
We use the present continuous to talk about things that are
 happening at or around the time of speaking.

We form the present continuous with the present tense of be +
 verb + ing.

   Vorm:
    ◦ vorm van “to be” (am / is / are) + hele werkwoord + -ING
   Wanneer gebruik je het?
    ◦ Tegenwoordige tijd; iets is aan de gang of bezig.
 Waaraan herken je het? (signaalwoorden)
    ◦ (right) now, at the moment, at present, look, listen, currently.

                          I am jumping right now
   Vraagzinnen:
    ◦ Am/are/is + onderwerp + werkwoord + ING

            Is he walking to school now?

   Ontkennende zinnen:
    ◦ Am not / aren‟t / isn‟t+ werkwoord + ING

He isn‟t walking to school now, he is walking to
                  the bus stop.
Als een werkwoord op een -e eindigt, dan vervalt de -e
  als ING wordt toegevoegd.

 Have --> having NOT haveing!!
   Make     --> making
   Drive    --> driving

 Sommige werkwoorden komen zelden voor in de
    vorm van een present continuous:

   Believe – know – understand – remember – want –
    need – mean – like – hate.
SIMPLE                              CONTINUOUS
   Vorm:                           Vorm:
    ◦ hele werkwoord
                                     – “to be” + hele
    ◦ hele werkwoord + S               werkwoord + ING
      (he/she/it)
   Wanneer gebruik je het?
    feit/gewoonte (altijd, nooit, Wanneer gebruik je het?
      regelmatig) – nu bezig, aan de gang

 Signaalwoorden                    Signaalwoorden
always, usually, often, - (right) now, at the
  never, every day/week moment, at present,

         of liking, for example like, love, enjoy, and hate.

                 I hate cycling to school in the rain.

        Remember:
1. If the verb ends in –e, we drop the –e before –
          ing.

          double the last letter before –ing
