4. The Arrival In 1920 the Mayflower finally reached America. Although because of winter the ship went off course from its original Destination and stopped off in Massachusetts.

5. Building a Colony When the Pilgrims arrived it was winter. The Pilgrims met the Native Americans who taught them how to harvest food and grow corn.

6. The First Thanksgiving In 1621 the first Thanks Giving was held at the Plymouth Plantains where the Pilgrims and the Native Americans had feasts for 4 days to celebrate the harvest.

7. After the 1600’s Abraham Lincoln was the first person to suggest that we declare Thanksgiving a National Holiday. In 1941 Congress officially announced Thanksgiving a National Holiday
