Week 4 Assignment, Part 1: Development of an organization chart integrating
technology

                           Integrating Technology

                                       School Board
                         The school board has the authority to
                         determine the policies that govern schools
                         as well setting a clear course for the
                         district. In addition the make budgetary
                         decisions that provides adequate funding
                         for the advancement of technology for the
                         district.




                                      Superintendent
                The Superintendent of Schools is the chief administrative
                and executive officer of the Board of School Trustees.
                The superintendent should solidify the vision the school
                board has for the district, as well as ensure the financial
                commitment. In addition the superintendent assists in
                piloting the course to ensure a uniform, district-wide
                approach to the technology plan.

Principal’s Role
With the schools moving into the direction of being a 21st century school this requires
the principal not only to be managers of information and instructional practices, but also
leaders when it comes to technology. A prinicpal should not ask a teacher to use
various technology without being willing to learning and use them as well. The
principal’s role should be one that is positive towards technology. The principal should
be willing to train and guide teachers through technology not merely be a bystander in
their school. The principal should be aware of the school boards vision and what the
SBDM has determine as far as what technology advancements and staff develpments
are. Principals must promote and implement technology as well as support the
teachers leading them in change with the ultimate goal of increasing student
achievement through learning strategies with 21st teaching.

                                Professional Development Planning


       In preparing for professional developments for technology improvement I used 4
       different data sources STaR Chart, Campus Improvement Plan, District
       Technology Plan and Vision 20/20 plan. Troup had very good results from the
       STaR charts the last three years with us reaching Target Tech the last year.
       However, with staffing changes and new components that has been added there
       are still various opportunities for improvement in technology. The majority of all
       our staff development in the last three years have been focused around
       technology. Our campus improvement plan and our district plan clearly outlines
       that our focus is to be on technology improving student achievement. In the
       chart below are 4 staff development opportunities that target the needs of our
       campus.

The principal should be willing to train and guide teachers through technology not merely be a bystander in their school. The principal should be aware of the school boards vision and what the SBDM has determine as far as what technology advancements and staff develpments are. Principals must promote and implement technology as well as support the teachers leading them in change with the ultimate goal of increasing student achievement through learning strategies with 21st teaching. Troup had very good results from the STaR charts the last three years with us reaching Target Tech the last year. However, with staffing changes and new components that has been added there are still various opportunities for improvement in technology. The majority of all our staff development in the last three years have been focused around technology. Our campus improvement plan and our district plan clearly outlines that our focus is to be on technology improving student achievement. In the chart below are 4 staff development opportunities that target the needs of our campus.
