I have researched different publishing companies that I think would be suitable to
publish my music magazine. I have looked at both Baurer media and IPC media.
Bauer media
“Bauer Media is a division of the Bauer Media Group, Europe‟s largest privately owned
publishing Group. The Group is a worldwide media empire offering over 300
magazines in 15 countries, as well as online, TV and radio stations.”

IPC media

PUBLISHING COMPANY
Bauer media may publish my magazine because it has similar
magazines such as Q, MOJO and Kerrang. When creating my
magazine I looked closely at Q magazine for inspiration and so it
has the same sophisticated style as Q and so bauer media
would be a suitable publishing company as they already sell
something similar.
As Bauer media publishes magazines that are similar to my own
they have a similar target audience (16-25 year olds of both
genders) and this may be another reason as to why they would
publish my magazine.
PUBLISHING COMPANY

IPC media could also be a publishing company that may
publish my magazine as they already publish some music
magazines (NME and Uncut) but „indi‟ would be something new
for them. Although I used music magazine Q as an inspiration I
still came up with a new and unique magazine and so it would
be something completely new for IPC media and so would
result in generating more money in sales as they don‟t have
anything like „indi‟ magazine.
PUBLISHING COMPANY
After researching both publishing companies I
have decided that Bauer media would be a more
suitable publishing company to publish my
music magazine. This is because it already sells
similar magazines and so is appropriate to sell
„indi‟. It also publishes magazines with a
similar target audience to mine and so this adds
to why Bauer media would be the better
publishing company.
OUTLETS
I have thought about where my magazine would be sold and come up
with some different outlets as ideas.
I have made an image mind map of outlets that my music magazine may
be available.

OUTLETS
My magazine would be available in the supermarkets; ASDA, Tesco,
Morrisons, Sainsbury‟s and the co-operative. I have chosen these
supermarkets because they are places where similar magazines are
already sold and are supermarkets where my target audience may shop.
They are less likely to shop in Waitrose, Booths and M&S.
My magazine would be sold in newsagents and small independent shops
and also articles would be available on www.indimag.co.uk. Readers
could subscribe to the magazine and receive it in the post or get digital
copies. I think digital subscriptions would be successful as ipads and
other tablets are very popular with my target audience.
