To Whom It May Concern
It is my pleasure to attest to the integrity and work ethic of Amanda Brinkman as experienced by us
through our work with her over the past year.
The Chaeli Campaign is a NPO that runs eight programmes in support of children with disabilities with a key
component of each programme being recognising ability and celebrating inclusion. We first connected with
Amanda late in 2011 after requesting a meeting. We have been partnering with the Western Cape
Department of Health for the past few years by running the therapies programme at Sivuyile, Stikland
Hospital, and requested a meeting to discuss further collaboration around growing a more inclusive society.
In all our conversations and interactions Amanda was interested in and curious about our work, very
professional and objective in analysing possible networking and partnership with various role players. She
was keen to promote opportunities to work together to the benefit of all concerned.
Early in 2012 we asked for her help when the Two Oceans Marathon organisers denied wheelchair users
entry to the race under the guise that it posed a safety risk. Within 10 days Amanda had consulted with all
role players, including the event organisers, top City of Cape Town officials and other interested/involved
people in the Western Cape government. The result was the inclusion of two disabled athletes in the 2011
Two Oceans Marathon with a clear directive being sent to the organisers of this race and every other
similar event supported by municipal and local government that full inclusion of people with disabilities in
future events is not negotiable.
In all our dealings with Amanda she has proved to be direct and honest, a complete professional with
integrity, and a woman with an open ear and a mind tuned into creating opportunities to collaborate. It
would be our pleasure to work with Amanda again in the future.
Yours sincerely
