     with Sony Interactive Walkman Display
This year's nominations were announced at the In-Store Show on
29th June 2011

The Sony walkman Interactive display was nominated in 2
categories:

• Travel, Leisure & Automotive
• Innovation
SONY INTERACTIVE WALKMAN DISPLAY




Sony wished to compete in the MP3 market and challenge other providers. The key USP
is based around the Sony superior sound quality and therefore the execution is aimed at
driving experience of the sound and of the products. Testing of the unit enabled the unit
to be developed in such a way that 76% of users listen to the sound as the first action
when interacting with the unit.

The solution was at the time of its launch the only unit in the market that provided such levels of
interactivity and real time data information. The display allows consumers to listen, use and play
with the products whilst obtaining specific information about the product they have chosen to
interact with. When a product is picked up the screen instantly recognises it and displays
the relevant information on the product. If the screen is used to choose a product then the
corresponding product choice is illuminated on the display to provide easy recognition. Products
can be compared using the touchscreen or indeed a product finder can be used.

Sony is able to obtain real time sales data and usage from the site which can help shape
sales strategy: the data details how the unit is being used, which products are interacted
with most and can be linked to store data to see how interactivity converts to sales.

Software content is easily updateable remotely via the wi –fi network and the store itself retains
complete control of the products featured and the retail pricing by way of a retailer only section on
the software accessed via the touchscreen.
This allows store promotions and new products to be seamlessly integrated into the display
ensuring longevity.

This European and global programme is set to continue rolling throughout 2011 and 2012. The
displays are designed in such a way that they can be produced bespoke per store ensuring
that each store has a display that fits perfectly to the designated space in store regardless of
channel whether it be in run or standalone. The displays can be produced to fit into or on to
existing store fixturing to minimise disruption to the store and ensure that it is compatible and
remains in any situation.

The displays are designed in such a way that they can be produced bespoke per store ensuring that each store has a display that fits perfectly to the designated space in store regardless of channel whether it be in run or standalone. The displays can be produced to fit into or on to existing store fixturing to minimise disruption to the store and ensure that it is compatible and remains in any situation.
