The first thing that caught my eye at Bletchley Park was the deterioration of
most of the huts and items located within the main building. The process of
deterioration and the effect it has had on some of the buildings is something
that fascinates me and will be the main focus for this project. An interesting
and very distinct feature of Bletchley Park is how the new is mixed in with
the old, which creates a mishmash of different architectural styles.
There are so many interesting textures around the park, from the broken
brickwork that surrounds some of the huts, to the smashed glass roof in one
of the outside buildings, and of course the decaying wood that a lot of
structures are made from. All these imperfections give the park so much
character and creates a rather dark atmosphere, and it is my aim to capture
this . Another element I found particularly interesting were the items that
were located in the main building - there are rooms that would appear to
have barely changed since Bletchley Park has been established. I would like
to capture certain images where it would seem to the viewer, that it has
been taken from a totally different time period. (Eg. removing any signs

3. that it would suggest the shot has been taken in current times). I think
working with a 35mm SLR camera lends itself perfectly to the mood and
tones I want to capture.
To complete this task, I will have to fill out a risk assessment form. Also, I
will carry photo release forms around the park with me in case I need
somebody's consent to have their photo taken.
The rest of the unit will require me to have an organized folder in which I
will evaluate images and test shots, which will enable me to improve upon
shots that I've already taken. I will then produce a minimum of 6 final
images.
