2. Pixel Art
• Pixel art is a form of digital art, created through the use
of raster graphics software, where images are edited
on the pixel level.
• Graphics in most old video games, graphing calculator
games, and many mobile phone games are mostly pixel
art. Pixel art was very often used in older computer
and console video games. With the increasing use of
3D graphics in games, pixel art lost some of its use.
• Despite that, this is still a very active
professional/amateur area, since mobile phones and
other portable devices still have low resolution and
therefore require skilful use of space and memory
3. Concept Art
• Concept art is a form of illustration
where the main goal is to convey a
visual representation of a
design, idea, and/or mood for use in
films, video games, animation, or comic
books before it is put into the final
product.
4. Texture Art
• Texture mapping is a method for adding
detail, surface texture (a bitmap or raster
image), or colour to a computer-generated
graphic or 3D model.
5. Background Graphics
• Background graphics where used to submerse the
player into thinking that the game they are playing
had a real life world to it.
• Most backgrounds are just a long bitmap image
which may have been repeated several times.
6. Print Media Art
• This is artwork made to advertise the game
that is being sold, many works of this art style
is done in art software. To which is then
printed out to be used at posters, box covers
or packaging.
