8. • Development of ecosystem requires a two stage process:
1. Outline the potential business models and revenue
streams that would appeal to your ecosystem
partners (e.g. how would these companies portray
their business models to their boards)
2. Engineer what your business model should be
(example wolfram alpha, sales force, iTunes)
• When trying to value companies that can benefit from
joint creation of value (e.g. forecasting expected user
activity, revenues and etc.), it is important to account for
the effect of such models on the potential valuation
9. • Communities (e.g. forums, social network) for discussions
and referrals

– Internal resources (e.g. doctors)
• Loyalty programs = digital data hook that collects data
on the consumption of services by the consumer

others (e.g. wellness coaches, fitness facilities, retailers)
to augment his capabilities and operate in his space in
return for rent/brokerage fee/cross selling opportunities
and etc.
10. • Ability to monetize data Freemium = DDH
• Alchemist To get a higher quality of data (e.g.
structured documentation vs. free text)
• Ecosystem of applications on top of the EHR or a
marketplace around the EHR = platform and
marketplace respectively
• “Open Sharing” and “Shared solution” are two additional
archetypes that can help augment the value proposition
of analytics, benchmarking and research services on top
of the EHR.
