2. Abstract
The research work focused on the developmental challenges facing Tourism in Oyo
community, with the objectives to identify tourism resources in Oyo community, also
to determine the developmentalchallengesfacing tourism in Oyo communityand to
document the stakeholders’ contribution to tourism development in the study area.
Analytical research method wasadopted to collect data for thestudy, the researcher
purposively, conveniently and randomly selected local government tourism
committee, head of communities and resident of Oyo community respectively; out of
which 120 respondents were sampled and 108 responded to the research. The data
collected were analyzed and presented using descriptive statistical tools, however
the result revealed that Oyo community is endowed with enormous tourism
resources but not fully developed due lack of awareness, improper funding, lack of
stakeholders and government support, illiteracy, lack of experts harness the
potentials to mention a few. The study further revealed that these problems can be
overcome through qualityand adequateawareness, involvementofstakeholders and
government, proper funding, finishing touch from experts as well as encouraging
religious and tourism education withoutdisregarding improvementofinfrastructure
among others. On this notes, recommendation made are; incorporation of regatta
into the annual Oranmiyan festival, adequate and effective awareness should be
created, stakeholders and governmentcollaboration via funding, provision of better
transport network and that host people should be incorporated in tourism policy
formulation and implementation for sustenance and optimum patronage.
