Experience and Skills
My previous employment as a housekeeper involved cleaning to a high standard, close team
work, individual responsibility and organisation skills. Following this I proceeded to a job in
retail, working for a major super-store. In my first role, as an online shopper, I was required
to work at speed, achieve set targets and accurately meet the customers’ needs. More
recently, I progressed to a ‘front of shop’ position, where as a public representative of a
business organisation, I endeavour to uphold their reputation by presenting myself in a
professional manner. As a Customer Service Assistant I sometimes encounter challenging
situations, such as emotional customers. I have developed good interpersonal skills that
allow me to deal with such situations in a calm and professional manor. Furthermore,
working in retail has provided the opportunity to handle money in a safe and secure way;
counting and collecting it precisely to ensure no losses to the company.
I have also undertaken some voluntary work, including work in a rescue kennel and a
hedgehog hospital; cleaning and caring for a number of animals. Additionally, I have helped
at a local riding school, enabling children with physical disabilities to enjoy the thrill of
riding.
Further Achievements
 Personal tutoring; assisting students in literacy skills via the ‘toe by toe’ scheme.
 Fund raising for charity, including 6 years involvement in the ‘Race for Life’.
 A variety of horse riding related awards.
 Long distance swimming.
Interests and Hobbies
I value the importance of health and fitness and as such enjoy spending time horse riding,
running and training in the gym. I have a keen interest in the health and welfare of animals,
especially in the training of dogs displaying behavioural problems. Their progress gives me
great satisfaction. Furthermore, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and love
dressing up for social occasions. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at university including
the challenges of new levels of study, making friends and engaging in social opportunities.
