9. In December 2008 the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found no specific support for the hypothesis that HFCS is causing obesity in the United States. The FDA says that HFCS is safe to consume.
10. A study done by Princeton University found that studies have shown that HFCS can lead to an increase in abdominal fat and circulating triglycerides. Rats fed diets with HFCS over high-fat diets gained more weight and “ballooned” in size. The rats also had higher triglyceride levels.
11. Princeton University also goes on to state that extra abdominal fat is a key component in the development of : diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. High blood cholesterol is a major risk factor in developing heart disease.
