Army adopts stronger, lighter composite materials REDSTONE ARSENAL,
Ala. -- In the future, Army aircraft may be made of all composite materials, and the Prototype
Integration Facility Advanced Composites Laboratory is ready. Part of the Aviation and Missile
Research Development and Engineering Center's, or AMRDEC's, Engineering Directorate, the
Prototype Integration Facility's, PIF's, Advanced Composites Lab has successfully designed and
made repairs on damaged composite aircraft components for several years now.
Student scientists go ‘Inside the NFL’ LEESBURG, Va. -- The excitement of the
eCYBERMISSION STEM competition has died down and the student scientist teams have all gone
back home, but some teams are still getting a lot of attention. The Falcons of Skyview Middle
School in Leominster, Mass., won the sixth-grade competition with a project that explored
helmets and concussions.

AMC, PEO Ground Combat Systems eliminate redundancies in

the Army's single logistics command, and Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems
have partnered to streamline the process for the Warfighter to turn in Stryker combat vehicles
prior to redeployment.
New Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army invested HUNTSVILLE,
Ala. -- The newest Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army (CASA) was invested during a
ceremony conducted here today. Joe Fitzgerald was selected by Secretary of the Army John
McHugh to represent Northern Alabama. Gen. Dennis L. Via, commander, Army Materiel
Command, conducted the ceremony during a luncheon kicking off the greater Madison County's
Armed Forces Celebration Week at Huntsville's Von Braun Center.
JMC helps Filipino ship pick up Foreign Military Sales ammo in
San Diego ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- A unique ammunition upload mission coincided
with a family's tour of their namesake's ship. The Joint Munitions Command, through its
Security Assistance Management Directorate, succeeded in adding a port visit to San Diego for
the BRP (Ship of the Republic of the Philippines) Ramon Alcaraz (PF-16), named after World
War II hero, Commodore Ramon Alcaraz.

Afghanistan mission central to US family BAGRAM, Afghanistan -- U.S. Army
Staff Sgt. John Bartlett, master gunner, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd
Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division joined his father, Stephen Bartlett, battalion support
operations officer, 401st Army Field Support Brigade, and his mother, Denise Bartlett, a
contractor with Science Applications International Corps, at Bagram Air Field.

Pine Bluff Arsenal's Quality Evaluation Facility was dedicated by then commander Col. Tom
Woloszyn. It was dedicated in the spirit of civilian heroism in the memory of Annie M. Young, a
young woman who worked at the Arsenal in the 1940s on one of the production lines. In 1943,
Young saved several workers from two fires.
