4. Questionnaire
• This questionnaire was sent out to thirty
students and twenty adults.
• The purpose of the questions on the first slide
was to find out about the magazine and what
they would like in it.
• The purpose of the questions of the second
slide was to help me create a reader profile of
the magazines potential readers.

5. What genres of music do you prefer?
What genre? This shows that most of
the people I surveyed
has the favourite genre
Pop
of Rap and Hip Hop. This
means that my magazine
Rock should cover this genre
because of it’s
Rap/Hip Hop popularity. R’n’B and
Pop are also both
R'n'B common genres which
could link in with rap so
my magazine should
Dubstep/Electronica cover these areas too. I
would say Rock but that
Screamo doesn’t link in well with
Rap as the two genres
don’t have much in
common.

6. Which Magazine would you read?
Magazine This shows that most would
prefer to read NME. NME is
quite a generic genre magazine
that covers all aspects so this
NME could be why more people
would choose to read NME.

Spin question that my magazine
Vibe should cover more than one
The Source genre to increase potential
sales. This means my magazine
will cover pop, R’n’B and Rap
because it’s multi-genre just like
NME.

7. What would you expect from a
Magazine? This shows that my magazine
should mostly cover Chart
Sales News as it is the one most
people would expect from
Backstage the magazine. Album
Interviews Reviews, Backstage
Album Reviews Interviews and Posters are
also expected because they
are also common features of
Chart News music magazines. This means
my contents page should
Exclusive News show coverage of Backstage
Interviews, Album
Posters Reviews, Chart News and a
freebie should be a poster.

8. What is the most you would be willing
to spend on a music magazine?
This shows that my price should
Ammount be between £2 and £3 because
these are the two most people
selected and to make more
readers happy a compromise of
£2.50 would be best for my
£2 magazine thus resulting in more
£3 sales. Since £4 and £5 have
hardly any ticks this shows that
£4 £4 and £5 are too expensive for a
£5 music magazine and therefore
making £2.50 the optimum price
of the magazine.

9. What would entice you to buy a music
magazine
This shows that most people
Factors buy a magazine to be
entertained. This means my
magazine needs to entertain
it’s audience so that it makes
Price more sales which is the whole
purpose of the magazine.
