Maisie B discusses her UK and Ireland tour, expressing herself through her unique musical style. She talks about breaking free from restrictive managers by cancelling contracts to perform her own way. Looking ahead, she is excited to support Bombay Bicycle Club and release her new album "Constellations", which features unconventional instruments. While having no clear goals, she aims to inspire others to stand out through her individuality in both music and appearance.
1. Final production decision making
After experimenting on Photoshop and making drafts of my pages to find any occurrences
that may cause me problems such as lay out, font, erasing, tools, layers etc. I have decided
on using ‘Maisie B’ for my front cover and my reason for this is as shown below when using
more than one image as your main image (which is what I wanted to do with before and after
tent peg photos) it creates the look of a contents page more than a front cover.
If I use Maisie B for my main image I can make it
more personal as I will be able to use closer shots as
it is only one person. Another bonus will be that I can
use just one main image to represent my main story.
I also believe Maisie is better as she is more musical
compared to tent peg. Tent peg are more about
image and crazy stories as opposed to the talent.
With my location I chose to take these at the pub as it
is easy to create different effects such as an indie
style, vintage style and great to capture crowds
(fans).

Begin thinking of ideas in February, then find out
the best options for photo shoots and start talking
with potential models. In March take the photos
and edit them and then copy the designs for the
magazine.
2. Article for magazine. MAISIE SHOWS THE MAGIC IN
MUSIC.
“ Expressing yourself is important in music,
don’t follow the crowd” We speak to Maisie B about the importance of being individual and get all the gossip about her new tracks.
Hello Maisie Welcome to fascination Nation it is excellent to have you here! “Hello it’s great to be here thanks for having me”
So you have been touring around the UK and Ireland how is that going for you? “ Oh it is epic *Grins ecstatically* I am loving every second of it and the fans
have just been superbly supportive”
What is it about this tour in comparison to touring when you wasn’t as known? “ Well all the freebies of course *laughs loudly* oh no I’m only joking! In the past
few years I have been mainly supporting on tours and I never got to add my own free style emphasis on stage as my manager wanted me to stick to the set list. I
also now have what I always wanted which is my mini orchestra consisting of harps, saxophones, oboes and more! It’s so excellent! It gives the music such
dramatic effect and it sounds symphonic and overwhelming!”
You say your manager made you stick to the set list, how did you cope with this? *gives a guilty/bite lip look, looks over at a friend and laughs* “Well I didn’t
cope with it to be honest” *laughs loudly again* “I left the tour and cancelled the contract, you could argue it was a diva’ish thing to do but I did it for my music
and my dignity I didn’t want to become a follower of the crowd, expressing yourself is important and I will never change my music for others. It’s all about
enjoying yourself you see, and I wasn’t”
That’s almost career suicidal don’t you agree? “well of course it’s an extremely dangerous move to make but I have always never minded about fame and
fortune. I never started music intending to become famous, it’s a passion not a hunger for fame. Luckily for me a small indie type label found me and let me
express myself with no ties, from that I have become increasingly lucky”
Talking of increasingly lucky, we hear you will be supporting ‘Bombay bicycle club’ next February is this correct? “ Ah yes this is correct! I’m so excited about it! I
have met the boys many times and we have always got along really well so it will defiantly be an experience yeah”
Can you see yourself and them writing a song together?
*laughs* well we have free styled together after a good too many drinks at the NME awards a few months ago so maybe when more sober we could write some
stuff down! Never know what the future shall bring ay!”
Yes, tell us about your new album? “My new album ‘Constellations’ brings a whole new level to original music, I combine instruments some would find to risky to
try and I reach pitches some would be deafened by” *laughs and puts hand on head* “oh gosh! I just made it sound really un-appealing then didn’t i!”
We are sure it will be great! Is there anything your looking forward too for this year besides the release of your new album? “THE FESTIVALS! I am playing
reading and leeds on the introducing stage and I cant wait to be on there having a small drink and engaging with the crowd while they ‘hopefully’ enjoy my
music”
Do you have any ambitions or goals when it comes to your music career? “People say making goals is a great way to acomplish things in life but personally I am
a bit of a self-proclaimed hippie and I just love to go with the flow, thinking about the future is unimportant if your living in the present!”
If you HAD to answer that question though, what would you say?
*grins and laughs* ‘Your so cheeky Fascination Nation! Erm, I would love to win British break through act and best newcomer at the Brits to be honest but there
are so many talented artists out there that deserve it just as much as me”
Is there anything you prize yourself on that makes you individual to other acts? “When it comes to me, what you see is what you get. I am bigger than other girls
out there with twig legs and flat chests *laughs* but I don’t mind! It makes me unique and gives aspiration to those out there that stand out in a crowd like myself!
My looks reflect on my music as that is also unique and individual”
Are there any good luck rituals you carry out before you go on stage? “ Oh gosh no not me but I have seen some hilarious ones that other musicians have done.
The one that sticks in my mind the most was when I was going to perform on ‘Alan Carr chatty man’ but before me ‘Lana del ray’ was performing and I caught
her warming up and *laughs* she was spitting into a small pot as elegantly as she could while nodding her head. Ever since I saw that I’v always referred to her
as ‘LAMA del ray’ *laughs hysterically and repeats the nick name*”
Well Maisie we wish you the best of luck with everything you have going for you in the future and hope you see us soon! “Thankyou Fascination Nation it’s been
great being here and yes you’ll defiantly be seeing more of me”
