The student created an artwork using transportation objects to form the features of a face, following Arcimboldo's style. They drew a sketch first before painting the artwork. The artwork could be viewed in two different ways - normally or when viewed opposite. The student felt their artwork turned out well and they particularly liked the creative roads they drew that overlapped. Through this project, the student practiced brainstorming ideas, giving and receiving feedback, and communicating their opinions with others.
1. Final evaluation
Our task was to draw an Artwork, using Arcimboldo’s pattern.
I did an Artwork. First, I brainstormed three kinds of things: sport, transportation,
clothes and electronic things. After brainstorming, we have to choose 1 kind of object. I chose
transportation, because I like transportations, such as cars. Then we drew a sketch, like a draft of our
Artwork. In the process of drafting, we have to draw a face shape first. And then, we drew an eye
using transportations, and then drew an nose using transportations, too. Then we drew other things
to fill in the spare spaces. Then we were drawing the Artwork on a paper. using the same skills that
drawing the sketch. There’s another step instead of drawing: painting. We have to paint our work
like 3D, so we have to draw in gradual change. After painting, We have to paint the background. I
chose a color of light white. Finally, my work is finished.
I learnt that there’re lots of types of color, for example: primary (red, yellow, blue),
secondary (purple, orange, green), tertiary (browns), tones (plus black or white), shades (darker),
tints (lighter), monochromatic (tones of one color), analogous (similar colors), complementary
(opposite colors), color contrast (colors that are different from each other), realistic colors (colors
that look real), arbitrary colors (colors that are not the real colors).
I think my Artwork is pretty good, this probably the best I could do. Because my
Artwork can look in different way, one is original, and one is opposite. I think my design is pretty
good, especially the road. I made roads overlapped and it looks good.
When classmates and teacher gave me feedback, first, i will think about it. Second, if I
think it is good, I will draw the shape lightly, and then look if it is good or not. Third, If it is good
looking, I will start to draw that object.
I made a improvement that this art work can look opposite. This the my
Artwork.
And this is the opposite of my Artwork:
And it looks like a person, isn’t it?
I think my project is pretty good, because the roads that i drew were very creative, and
the Artwork can look opposite.
The interesting process was drawing the objects when we finished brainstorming. The
most challenge thing is rendering, I had never rendered before, so it is a challenge. But I think I
rendered pretty good.
This art work is connected to looking in different way in human ingenuity. Because I
drew a creative portray that it still looks like a person when you look opposite.
2. Final evaluation
This project developed me as a thinker and communicator. For thinker, I brainstormed
before I started to draw. For communicator, I gave feedback to others and we communicated about
our opinions.
I am pretty satisfying of my Artwork. Because this is probably the best Artwork I had
done. And I was very enjoy the process of create my Artwork, especially the brainstorming.
