9. What’s Gone?
• Brands will no longer be able to ‘fan-gate’ pages or apps
• Tabs have been removed, and apps/info etc now sit under the cover image
• Brands will no longer be able to set custom landing tabs - users will now automatically land on
brand timeline
10. What does this mean for your brand?
These extensive changes will mean a change in your social strategy.
Important stories can now be featured with the click of a button, and Facebook’s new
Premium ads mean your content can be placed at the very top of a user’s news feed –
but this needs to be approached with caution.
Consumers don’t always react well to change across social platforms, and forcing your
content in front of them isn’t necessarily going to result in a positive reaction.
Existing content will need to be edited and new content created before you publish your
new timeline, and easily accessible historical data means you’ll need to think about
posts from years gone by too.
Our recommendation? Create a carefully thought out strategy before you click that
publish button!
